It’s Nona and Gramps

I’ll go along with it, but I haven’t quite yet been able to muster it together enough to call them that out loud. In my head, they’re still called grandma and grandpa, and they came to SLC for a visit over the weekend. Today Violet’s missing all the special attention that only grandparents can give, no matter what name they go by. The dogs and I can’t compare to the tickle monster. I love it when they come, and not just because they do things like hang our TV, change diapers, scrub the bathtub, and cut down trees in the yard. We managed to pack in a lot of good food, wine, shopping, chores, and bird watching into one very short long weekend. It was busy, and fun, and then they were gone, and this morning the only evidence that they had been here was the TV tuned to Fox News.

We had such a great time, as always! We miss you, love you, and look forward to the next visit.
I came home and looked again at pictures of you as a baby, and I do see quite a few that give a glimpse of Violet.

I am happy to see pix, we miss her. Mary, doesn’t she have the greatest personality. (and the cutest clothes) She is a delightful child. I am so glad you guys got this time with her.

The whole weekend was a joy, from watching the interaction between Violet and her Mom, Dad and Gramps, to watching her occupy herself, examine and explore. Bathtime was one of my favorites. (And the clothes are adorable.)

Yes, there is something about watching your own baby with their own baby; it’s quite beyond my ability to articulate.

p.s. I forgot to mention that today, on her 15 month birthday, I got to talk with her on the phone for the very first time. She said “uh oh” and “ball”. It was enchanting.
