Stinkerrific

My running shoes have developed this horrible odor, and I can’t seem to stop myself from sniffing at them before putting them on. It’s some kind of obsession, kind of like the thrill of squeezing zits. When I need a new pair of shoes, I usually go down to the Dick’s sporting goods and get some Adidas Supernovas without any help. But my recent sports medicine rotation gave me the nagging suspicion that I probably should not be doing something like running every day without knowing anything about it. After numerous people told me I should go there, I went to Salt Lake Running Company this time. They have a treadmill with a video camera and they film you running to see which shoes will work best for you. I learned that my left foot pronates (turns in) while my right foot strikes straight. Apparently this happens to a lot of people, but it sounded pretty weird to me, like a horrible limping birth defect. I was also wearing my shoes a size too small. They wanted me to buy some inserts, but I drew the line there because they were expensive and uncomfortable. So I spent a lot of money and got me some supportive shoes, so expect me to be a lot faster and less smelly (for a little while.)
